I posted 2 new photos of the Lempor exhaust installations on the Grand Canyon engines to the "News" section of my site this morning. See them at: http://www.trainweb.org/tusp/news/news.html |

I was at the Grand Canyon Rwy. two weeks ago. I didn't see any operations, but was told that two of the LS&I Consolidations were out of service permanently. #20 is static and heavily stripped of hardware, and #18 was at the station, looking like she is ready to roll, but decked out with twinkle lights in a wire mesh smoke cloud. A young man, who told me he knew little about the locos, said that #18 is retired -period. She looked to be complete and well oiled and greased. Anyone know more about these two locomotives? |

#20 has been on display for many years. It was probably a parts source for the other locomotives; its been years since I have seen it, but I think some of the parts are wooden mockups.#18 was operational. If it is down; then that leaves #29 and #4960 as their only remaining working locomotives.-James Hefner Hebrews 10:20a Surviving World Steam Project |
