Homemade railbus of the San Luis Valley Southern in Colorado. I think the remains of this vehicle went to Oklahoma in the 1970s. Anyone seen it lately?http://www.insulators.com/pictures/?id=45116014

Exceedingly rare shot, apparently. If even Edmund Keilty could only find a photo and no information for his epic time "The Short Line Doodlebug", I presume we have no hope.......

I saw the car in the mid-1970s at Blanca, along with the remains of 2-8-0 105. The engine part of the 105 (not complete) was later scrapped, though the tender survived. The railcar had had its van body cut back to a flatbed. The RR attempted briefly to use the railbus as a locomotive, but kept blowing tires out when they tried to pull cars with it. Instead, they built the unique D-500 engine, which I'm told still sits at Blanca. This was a diesel engine/chain drive affair, with a carbody built over a D&RGW idler (NG to SG) car. I read somewhere that a persopn in Oklahoma acquired the remains of the railcar and took it down there, but never heard anymore.
