Post subject:  Brake Shoes

I have found some possible spare brake shoes for our ore car passenger equipment. However, the replacement shoes are two inches longer than the old shoes. Will this make a difference in the overall braking power of the shoe? (are they more likely to lock wheels during a given brake application). I am inclined to think that there should be no changes in braking power, but need to confirm this. Michael Seitz Missoula MT

Both the old and new shoes are cast iron, so that is great. I just hope they fit........ Thanks for the reply. Michael Seitz Missoula MT
