SWEET, man, those are my photos! That shot of 4449 popping out of the tunnel was my reward for over an hour wait along Hwy 14 along the Columbia River, but it didn't come out as good as I'd hoped. None of my pacing shots turned out worth a darn. The funny thing was that last shot of 4449 rounding the curve was an afterthought while standing at the Vancouver Amtrak platform as she rolled by and it turned out to be one of my favorite RR shots in years. I thought that the Obs car in Wishram looked like maybe a Milwaukee passenger consist getting ready to cross the Columbia before the abandonment of passenger service, even though I don't think it ever got this far out back then. Speaking of obs cars, I think most convention guests didn't know when they went to the Mt Rainier Scenic, they were VERY close to former American Freedom Train # 205, which is being stored at Elbe with the "hotel" consist. I knew she was there, but she'd let herself go a little more since the last time I saw her. She's a far cry from her glory days when the press, public and even a President of the United States (Ford) once hung around her:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/willysmb44/AFTobs.jpg |
