One of our clients is about to cut one up for scrap shortly. Not suitable for interchange though - it's now a steel plant, in-plant car. I think these cars were originally rated for 140 ton and expired under the 40-year rule. They were real common for a while but it's been a while since any were out there.Just the thing for your Sherman Tank display!

While not suitable for interchange due to the 40 year rule, we just had one delivered to IRM - although ours had roller bearing trucks. I believe ours is 54 ft long. Originally it carried USAX reporting marks before the Army cars and others were rolled into the DODX pool. So I assume railroads will still accept them for a one way movement on their own wheels, perhaps invoking the rule "Enroute to final destination". Is that Rule 92 or is my memory fading?Bob Kutella
