Post subject:  Steamtown Equipment moved from Tobyhanna
Hello All

The first set of Steamtown equipment was moved from Tobyhanna PA by the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad today, June 13. Consist included former CN 4-6-2 5288, a former KCS F-Unit, 2 former EL baggage cars, 2 former DL&W MU cars and a former CNJ suburban coach. The cars are expected to be retained by Steamtown for parts while the 2 locomotives have been donated to other organizations, the 5288 was stenciled "TVRM" while the F-Unit was stenciled "ECTB". Pictures to follow, hopefully tomorrow.

It is good to hear that some of the equipment is finally is moving out of Tobyhanna, and going to some good organizations. Waiting to see your pictures.

In one of the older pictures on the "Scranton Trains" website, there are several passenger cars in the background. Two of them appear to be painted red and white. Are these the two Lackawanna MU cars (3233 and 4333)?

Yes, i believe those are the two MU cars. One that came down had was a high roof trailer and one was a low roof power car.

Are there any plans for these two additional MU cars? It was mentioned that Steamtown was planning on keeping them, but to what end? It would be nice to see them actually RESTORE and display a pair of MU's as such, either these cars or the motor-trailer set that's been sitting behind their office building for years.

East Chattanooga Belt Railway. Common carrier affiliate of TVRM. I believe the loco is carrying the marks temporarily for shipment purposes.

Thanks. Never would have guessed. And I didn't know TVRM had a common carrier affiliate.

I learn at least one new thing from this site every day. And if it's down, withdrawal symptoms start: twitching eyes, shaking hands.... Very painful.
