Looking for a paint match/code for CP Rail action red, used on boxcars, locomotives, etc. Also looking for a paint match for the brownish used on some of the older boxcars. I have emailed CP several times, and never heard back, so i was hoping someone on here might be involved with a museum who has used this color. We have 2 1960 cars in red, and a 1956 in brown (all built by National Steel Car in Hamilton, Ont.) Any help would be most appreciated.

We at the Smiths Falls Railway Museum would love to hear of a good match as well... for both Action Red and Action Yellow. Our cars are a bit too weathered to get a usable colour sample for matching. Thanks!Steve Hunter,TrusteeSmiths Falls Railway Museumhttp://www.sfrmeo.ca/http://public.fotki.com/elliottd/ImageImage

CP Action Red....Action red is equivalent to Pantone #032 . CP uses (or used) Phillips Paint part #3206.I got this directly from the CPR a couple of years ago.

Can't help with Action Red, but for the reddish-brown color usually used on freight cars, one of our guys took a can of red primer to the paint counter at Home Depot and said "gimme this color in gloss." Looks great on our Guignard Brick flatcar.Image
