Union Pacific's former PR man now has a new position, in this piece stolen from the Trains Newswire: Union Pacific creates Director, Historic Projects positionOMAHA, Nebr. – Union Pacific announced Monday that John Bromley, well-known as the railroad’s long-time p.r. spokesman, has been named Director, Historic Projects, a new position with the railroad. Bromley, who has worked for UP for more than a quarter-century, was previously Director, Public Affairs. In his new job, he will work at the Union Pacific Museum in nearby Council Bluffs, Iowa, and be responsible for the railroad’s extensive archive materials as well as help identify other historic opportunities to support the railroad’s preservation efforts.A 1964 graduate of the University of Nevada at Reno, and a U.S. Navy veteran, Bromley has been a life-long rail enthusiast and a noted painter of rail scenes. A former newspaperman, he joined Union Pacific in 1980. A replacement for the public affairs position has not yet been named. In my brief experiences, he's a good guy, and I'm happy he no longer has to answer for mistakes made by other UP managers. |
