Just because the photo was posted as "Photo of the Month July 2005" doesn't mean the photo was TAKEN in July 2005.Thwere have been reports/rumors that one of these Argentine "Sharks" has been acquired by an American party for "repatriation", but have been held up by shipping/export problems. |

Actually, I have followed the progress of this project over many months to know that the phot presented is indeed current.Repatriation is an interesting word. Let' see-there are TWO C-628's at Museo de Yucatan-one or two PA shells in Brazil and one or two of those odd looking Baldwins. Just doesn't seem right that those foreigners should have two C628's to their collection and us Americans have ZERO !!! For shame !!!!Dave |

....look at the cars behind it! Those are clearly at least two of the Budd built ex-C&O cars built for the Chessie. Many of the Chessie cars were sold very early - within a year or two of construction - for service outside of the US. I don't recall ever seeing pictures of any of these ex-US cars, or a status report on whether they even still exist. From the looks of the photo, at least a few do still exist, and these look to be in fairly good shape. Note the first car is one of the coach/baggage/crew locker cars, and it still retains the skirts. Any chance of getting a few roster shots of these cars?? |

I rode behind this loco & trainset out of Buenos Aires on a TUT excursion in Nov 2004. The loco was restored by Ferroclub Argentino & the cars are indeed from the Chessie & are still used in regular service. |
