Maine Narrow Gauge's Monson #3 steam locomotive will be visiting the Sandy River Railroad for Phillips Old Home Days, which I believe is Aug 19 - 21. This is the first steam on Sandy River rails since the scrap train left town in the mid-30s (although #3 did visit Strong a few years ago).Monson #3 is currently in Harrison ME (northern terminus town of the Bridgton and Harrison RR) for a town celebration, although the track it is on is nowhere near the original right of way.The WW&F's annual picnic is this weekend (Aug 13 & 14). Should be a good time. The WW&F typically runs slightly different consists for the picnic, such as a freight train or mixed train. Additionally a shuttle train will be run from the northern terminus station, Alna Center, to the very end of track for walking tours of the right of way north of there. Also, I have heard via the NERAIL mail list that Fred Richardson suffered a heart attack last Friday and is in poor condition. Fred was closely involved with Edaville since the 50s and his name is on B&H RR #7. I have not heard any news since that time on him.
