Well, after getting to spend a bonus day in Beantown due to bad weather conditions in Newark, I have returned from my New England trip. My roommate from college lives on Commonwealth Ave, so getting around Boston was easy, as I just had to walk outside and get on the Green Line of the T. As I posted below, I took the Red Line out to Ashmont just to ride the Mattapan-Ashmont high speed line. I arrived mid-morning to find three different PCC cars operating on the line. My outbound operator liked to press on the accelerator pedal of the PCC just to the point where the controller contacts engaged, and then let off, over and over again. The operator also liked to slam down on the brakes. I was riding in the longitudal seat in the car and slid back and forth between the two poles. At Mattapan, I left the outbound car, snapped a quick photo of an inbound car, and got on it. The inbound trip was much smoother. Still, the line is unique and worth a trip.On Saturday, my friend and I headed up to Maine to visit the Seashore Trolley Museum. Seashore has a program called Be a Motorman or BAM for short. Both my friend and I took part in the program, and we both piloted Connecticut Company open bench cars on the line. The experience was well worth the trip and expense. The volunteers at Seashore were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall the trip was a success, and while I enjoyed New England, it is good to be home.My inbound car at Mattapan.
