Is there any one out there that can tell me how to get to Sandpatch? I`ll be down that way in Oct. Thanks Len.

It's not preservation unless you head to Hyndman to look at B&O 3303, but...........From the Schuylkill Valley, head west to Cumberland (west on Turnpike, south on I-70, west on I-68?) to the junction of US 40 and Rt. 36; follow 36 north to Rt. 35 and take 35 (which becomes Pa. Rt. 96 at the state line.Alternately, you could take the Turnpike to US 219 near Somerset, go down 219 to Meyersdale/Garratt, and work your way uphill from there. The actual roads between Meyersdale and Hyndman require excellent topographic maps, and in a few cases 4WD. Consider purchasing a DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer at most any bookstore and many better convenience stores in Penna., or try and find one of the numerous issues of Railpace with maps and "Train Chaser's Guides" to Sand Patch, available through used-issue dealers at train shows or from www.railpace.com.

Thank you Mr. Mitchell. My friend and I were down to Cumberland back in July, but we ran out of time to search for sandpatch. My friend has been there a few times but he didn`t know how to get there, he was with his other friends a few years back. My friend Sal would also like to go to Randof tunnel but not sure if we`ll get there too. I understan theres a long dirt road that takes you back to the tunnel. Thanks again,Len.
