Folks, About 5 years ago the Shoreline Trolley Museum sent a crane to the Baltimore Trolley Museum and got another electric crane back. Both cranes needed to have work done on them, one had been converted to gas power, if I recall.i suppose the the Baltimore crane needed to be re-gauged to fit their very wide rails down there?Does anyone have an update on what happened? Is either or both machines operational at present? Thanks,Ted Miles

Ted,BSM had received the original 27G trucks from Branford several years before the crane arrived; they were sent back because we had found a 13-window semi body near Newport News, VA. The crane cab has had some metal work done to it, but we need to repair the cracked main gear used for rotating the cab before we get too far along on the rest of the work. Both end timbers must be replaced as well as at least some of the decking. We plan to rebuild a pair of Brill arch bar trucks (70 series?) to better handle the weight of the crane. We did have four axle sets re-gauged for use under the crane, but my understanding is that those axles will now be used to re-gauge the "good" ex-Philly sweeper. So another set of axles need to be sent out for regauging...Dave CrowBSM

I just last night dumped a major brief from the BSM onto Hume K's desk/computer; if I can manage to get him the photos in enough time (machine keeps locking up on me), you'll see it as soon as Hume gets it ready (though last time, that was 2 weeks or so........).
