A number of recent photos have been added to this group's website. They have determined that a running restoration is feasible and have begun heavy dismantling. The main and side rods were recently removed, requiring help from the fire department's jaws of life apparatus to push them off the crankpins. A crane then lifted the boiler and frame off the wheels so the wheels and rods could be moved to the Durango & Silverton shops for repairs. The tender has received a new tank and all new wood as well.http://www.drhs315.org/restoration/ |
