After founder Tommy Thompson died, his engine and train were supposedly donated to a museum. Are they on display today? Were the tracks left in place or taken up?http://www.anacortestrainrail.bigstep.com/homepage.html |

The equipment is at the Georgetown Powerplant Museum at Boeing Field in Seattle, stored and not on display to the public. There is a 12" gauge track on the grounds where a privately owned 12" gauge Ottaway steamer runs on occasion, and the two Atlantics built by Allan Shelly (one of which ran in the William Land Park in Sacramento) I understand are there as well. The tracks were left in place, but I understand the new group was in the process of a major reconstruction of the line. Thompson's family also apparently donated several flatcars to them.In better times, the railroad is featured in Dick Thiriot's "Big Little Railways". The original production, as well as continuations by Robinson & Associates, can be purchased via the Grand Scales Quarterly |
