I think the Green Mountain RR did a fantastic job on the 5313 tender. I didn't know that it existed at all. It Sure surprised me. I wonder if fans of the NYC Hudsons are aware of other existing artifacts from the locomotives themselves. Where are the whistles,bells,headlights,parts or builders plates that may have been saved today? Does the Smithsonian have anything?
Other than 5313s tender, the largest part of a NYC hudson that I know of that MAY survive is the trailing truck from the Hudson that crashed in Little Falls New York. I remember reading somewhere (Mowhawk and Hudson Chapter NRHS Newsletter?) that the trailing truck from the locomotive was never found after the wreck and is thought to have been lost in the nearby Mowhawk River.
Anybody know for sure?

Just one small correction to the brief regarding the tender from NYC No. 5313: the tender was paid for with a donation from an individual, but I sold the tender to Steamtown National Historic Site (January 2000).

For many years, Hill's Hobby Shop in downtown Park Ridge, IL dispayed the headlight off of perhaps the most famous of all the NYC Hudsons; #5344. They were looking for the builders plates if I recall. Don't know if they were successful in finding the builders plates and I haven't been to Hill's in a number of years so I don't know if the headlight from #5344 is still displayed or not.

It's still there. I offered a trade for the number plate from NYC 6000, their first 4-8-4, but got nowhere. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't trade mine!
