What is the reason for moving the 2467 from San Francisco to the California State RR Museum this weekend?

She is going to be on display at the California State Railroad Museum, and will be a very important part of a new exhibit, opeining on Friday, September 9, that will highlight railroading's human face:http://www.csrmf.org/doc.asp?id=404After all, without people, trains are just metal and glass and suchlike.I wrote: "The Golden Gate Railroad Museum, where the SP 2467 had been stored since November, 2001, has to move all of its equipment out of the former naval shipyard by February 15, 2006, and the 2467 had to find a new home – so then state railroad museum agreed to take her. Iheard that she may be put on display inside the main museum, in front of the cab-forward, so she will finally have a home inside, out of the weather, and safe from vandals and thieves."I just now read the "altamontpress.com" discussion forum and saw this, which is an official press release from one of our managers:> This is an Official Release from Dave Roth of the GOLDEN> GATE RR MUSEUM:> California State Railroad Museum has arranged with the Pacific> Locomotive Association to lease the 2467 for 10 years for> display. CSRM crews have been in our yard making > preparations to get the 2467 to Sacramento in time for their > Admission Day weekend event. September 9-11. $1 million has> been put into their new exhibit "We've Been Working on the > Railroad", highlighting the human face of railroading. All state > museums and historic parks will have free admission for the> weekend.CSRM locomotives Amtrak 281 and SP 6051 were > sent down to make the hospital move. The 2467 left today > [Sat., Sept. 4, 2005] along with the SP 9053 Pullman, which > has been on loan from R&LHS, and the UP 532 coach we > traded to them to use on their Sacramento Southern. They > plan to stop in Oakland tonight, and make Sacramento by> Sunday evening. We wish them a safe journey."Note: the special train made it to Sacramento on Sunday, September 4, 2005.

I was in Sacramento this past week and spoke with the a long-time acquaintance who is now in charge of exhibits and interpretation at CSRM. He said that the Pacific was going into the "roundhouse" part of the display. The track is the one facing the cab-forward.The other cars, etc. in the "Roundhouse" area of the Museum have been moved around and it seems better for it. Elsewhere there are other changes and new signs are going up.Story is told that return visitors are noticing for the first time parts of the building and exhibits that have been there since the opening. It will be worth visiting the Museum again.
