| Post subject: | Re: WP&YR #69 "dumped" sisters? |
Stupid question, but has anything happened with any of #69 and #73's "dumped" sisters? My understanding that at one time or another the following WP&Y locos/ plows were dumped:#52#60#61 #62 #66 #67#196Snow Plow #ON (former D&RGW)While I have seen shots of the snow plow (metal is all that's left), I haven't heard much about the proposed recovery efforts of the others, although I vaguely remember reports of one being salavaged and put behind the shops by the railroad, maybe, oh, 5 years ago or so?TJG |

To save Mike the trouble: All still dumped, except 60 and 61, which were recovered in the late 80's. The 61 was sold in the past couple of years, and will eventually move to the shops in WI, that has rebuilt #69. Keep in mind there are also many tenders and a rail car of sorts that have been offered up to the river gods, up there. Mike Stillwell Western VA RR Preservation Soc. |

The ancient 52, however, was never dumped to my knowledge, but was long a display around Skagway, losing a center driver somewhere in the process. I think has been at the WP&Y shops for the last few years, pending some sort of eventual restoration.http://www.steamlocomotive.info/vlocomo ... ?Display=3 |

To put some text with the photo, that is me on top of the cab in the process of setting the pops while Steven Butler is manning the controls down below for the process. This was prior to some traial runs in the form of performing switching duties between the depot downtown and the coach yards nearer the shops. |
