According to internet list, the last Erie Semaphore, located at Endicott, NY on Norfolk Southern's Southern Tier Line has now been taken down and is to be perserved by Norfolk Southern in Norfolk, VA. The signal, located at MP 224.2 at Endicott, located just west of Binghamton, NY was one of the last on a Class one railroad in the east.-Justin FranzBelow is from the Yahoo Tier Sightings Group--"A new NS bulletin order removes automatic block signal2242 on track 2 east to be replaced by signal 2232-a colorposition signal-1500 ft east-at 12:01pm on Wednesday. This signal will be sent to a museum in Norfolk as the lastsemaphore-not only on the Tier-but on the entire Harrisburg Division" |

Seems kinda out of place in Norfolk, but hey...who am I to complain? At least it's being preserved. I wonder in what capacity? Full mast and case? Just the head? Operational? Static? |
