Another good argument for strict repainting as originally operated! THe Santa Fe freight scheme is the only one that gives this locomotive any dignity!

It wasn't pure Daylight, but Daylight colors in New York Central lightning stripes!! Keith Ardinger has some great photos of it in that scheme.

Actually I think he's doing it to annoy the Daylight guys! Finally a F40 will wear a decent paint scheme and as he's told us time and again "it's only temporary. It'll be restored back to phase "whatever"...We pretty much shake our heads after we hear the words "phase".Smokebox

Can you get a deal with Walthers to release it in HO? You could sell 'em as a fundraiser. I'm only half joking. I think this is a pretty cool idea to hold her over until the phase III dress gets on her. But... if BNSF borrows #4449 again, are you gonna have to paint it black?Rob

Chris, if you are going to do the fantasy paint scheme a la 4449, do the whole engine, not just a match for a tender. Then when it is parked next to 6051, we will be able to contemplate "what could have been"
