From the Aspen Branch Rails Yahoo group:On Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th the Glenwood Railroad Museum will be offering "farewell" rides from Glenwood Springs to Carbondale over the tracks of the former Aspen Branch of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. The rails of this railroad are scheduled to be scrapped and removed for their salvage value in the near future, so this will be our last opportunity to enjoy this scenic and historic corridor. RFTA has given us permission for this event, and help in clearing the tracks has come from John Young of Bair Chase LLC and the Western Colo. Chapter, National Railway Historical Society.Because seating on our small rail motorcars is very limited, it is necessary to reserve your place on the trip.
