A "calendar note" for any contributors to the forum in the Mass-Rhode Island-Connecticut and Eastern New York area. A showing of the program WHAT'S IN THOSE COVERED WAGONS is planned for the Amherst Railway Society (Mass.) meeting at 8PM on Tuesday November 15, 2005. The Amherst group has a very nice meeting location in a school auditorium and admission is free. If classic streamlined passenger locomotives are of interest, please consider dropping by.This program looks at EMD and ALCO covered wagons through photography (much of it night photography), product development documentation, period advertising, and interior walk around tours. Interior tours include E8 and F7 units and a freshly overhauled and painted (in 1972) D&H PA-1 with the original 244 engine. There is also coverage of the build up of an FL9 with additional detail on some of the major components.This program does not get shown very often, as my time has been heavily committed to doing EMD presentations for several years now. This is the only showing planned the rest of this year that takes walk-in visitors, all the other showings are at conventions or locations with limited seating.
