Great shot -- but the caption last passenger train through the gorge is not *quite* correct because there's a tourist railroad that runs there these days.Can't tell if that shot was taken when they went through the gorge on the way to the Salt Lake City NRHS convention -- I don't remember seeing that much smoke !Bob H

Yes, that photo was taken when the UP 844 - and the UP E units - went through the Royal Gorge in 1997 on the way to the NRHS Convention in Salt Lake City. I was a "Passenger Services Host" (car host) on that trip - what memories! :) We even stopped under that high suspension bridge for a short time. Neat!We got to run down the Joint Line from Denver to Pueblo - which is rare mileage, indeed. And to go through the Royal Gorge behind STEAM - wonderful! Tennessee Pass, too - 10,200 feet elevation on a train! wow.....Margaret (SP fan)
