I was at a very rainy Strasburg this afternon. N&W 475 was the engine du jour. I was wondering what ahppened the the private car Paradise? Or is Reading Company 10 the same car, just restored?Wesley

I can hope the long-lost Mr. Bell, or more likely Mr. Anderson, would confirm my suspicions, but I know that the former "Paradise" was indeed a former Reading business car, probably #10.Nice to hear it's been repainted/restored. As I was told years ago, the car (and its separate-admission business) was a project of 2 or 3 of the original Strasburg shareholders--and a fairly lucrative, if boring, one. By now it wouldn't surprise me that the car has changed hands to either the railroad itself or other shareholders.Could you still purchase a tour of the car, Wes?

The Reading Company #10 is, indeed, the restored "Paradise." Tours of the car are still offered. -- Ray

I worked the car yesterday, it was nice to be in a dry place. The Reading Car 10 or President's Car ,as it is now called, is the old Paradise Car. It was returned to the Reading colors a few years ago.It can still be toured along with the J Tower. This time of year it is only open on weekends. As for the ownership, Lynn or someone else will have to address that as I am not sure.

She is indeed Reading #10 and for us locals she is a true treasure. She is one of the best examples of a Wilmington built railroad car that you will ever find. The folks at Strasburg have done such a great job at keeping her over the decades. Now here is a quesion.... According the the Reading RR Color Equipment Guide Reading #15 was sold to someone "out West". Does #15 still exist and if so what is her story?

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Tom, the American Assoc. of Private Rail Car Owners (AAPRCO) had an ariticle on RDG #15 in Private Varnish, their magazine, a bunch of years ago. I have the back issue at home, and cannot remember the Volume number. You should be able to find it at their website quicker than I can find my copy of the issue.
