The latest of UP's "Heritage" locomotives is out of the Wisconsin and Southern's paint shop. Except that it doesn't look like a "Heritage" paint job to me. Hopefully they'll get back to the real "Heritage" paint jobs soon.Image

Wonder if the unit will lean to the right?

You've got the wrong George Bush! Politics aside, it would be a neat paint scheme for some shortline or regional to use.

OMG - is this a Photoshopped joke? The only way I could swallow this is if there are 42 more on the way, one for each prez. I'd actually like a nice Franklin Pierce #1414, maybe in B&M maroon?

The "Air Force One" paint scheme looks good on a locomotive. What does the Vice President get - a hot air balloon?

I think this is an insult to the work of Raymond Lowey, who designed the paint scheme for Air Force 1. To see his work applied to a machine that shows a complete lack of attention to design is disgraceful. Many of you will know Raymond Lowey as the person who streamlined the GG-1.Tom Cornillie

It doesn't look any worse than private car "North Star" which is also in "Air Force One" paint. I also thought it was a bad joke but it actually exists. In addition to UP standing for many things such as "Unlimited Parking" you can now add "Useless Politics".Don C.

Lean right, for 41? Nope, it will straddle the middle and throw up in your lap.Does it feature the new "thousand points of light" headlight? And am I the only one who sees the irony of this being released now, an October Surprise named after the man who invented the October Surprise?

I have no feelings pro or con over this paint job. I really don't know what Bush 41 did to warrant this treatment that, say, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Eisenhower, etc. didn't do as well. The two thoughts that come to mind:*Is this an effort on UP's behalf to maintain the trademark on the senior Bush's name and paint scheme? (^_^)*How long will it take for folks to apply politics and advocacy to this occasion and use it as an excuse to rant against the current administration, boycott UP, refuse to ride Amtrak trains over UP tracks, etc.? [checks other posts here, on TrainOrders, etc. ] Oooops, too late, already been done.

How long will this unit last in service before it is vandalised? Talk about making your corporation a target for controversy.

Now would an EMD really be better?

Apparently Dick Cheney once sat on the board of U.P., so logically, this could be traced from Cheney, to "W", to Poppa Bush. If U.P. wanted to do this, they should have one for each of the surviving Presidents. That, I could respect. This is pure toadyism, and shameful.
