Post subject:  Identifying Perley Thomas cars

I have been in contact with a gentleman from the Augusta Museum of History in Augusta, Georgia. They have a streetcar which, because of careful paint analysis, they know to be Augusta #415. However, they are not sure when the car was built or by whom.

A book I have claims that #415 (a single-truck car) was built by Perley Thomas in 1923, but the Augusta people are skeptical. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to identify Perley Thomas -built streetcars as such? Frame numbers? Specific construction techniques? Anything?

Hi Frank;

Might try the Thomas Bus Co in High Point, NC and see if they have any records available.
