Anyone know more about this line, which apparently used ex-USATC 0-6-0s? Presumably not related to today's line of the same name?http://cgi.ebay.com/Cuyahoga-Valley-Locomotive-Photos-38-34-Cleveland-OH_W0QQitemZ6549805931QQcategoryZ35975QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

My best guess would be these may have been owned/operated by one of the steel mill in Cleveland which operates their in plant railroad as the Cuyahoga Valley Railway (CUVA).

I meant to answer the question posed earlier about the USA/TC 0-6-0s and forgot until now. No, they did not go overseas, per information in R. Touret's War Department Locomotives, a British publication. They were built for US service at Army bases. They seem to have made the rounds once they were declared surplus, though. Raritan River, Alaska, Cuyahoga Valley, Virginia Blue Ridge, Midland Terminal (?), etc., and then on to several tourist lines. Does anyone have a list they can share? I used to fire the 9 at New Hope, and always thought it was a decent engine. Hate looking at it now-

The Midland Terminal locomotives were definitely USATC 0-6-0's, except that they had a pony truck added for road service thus turning them in to 2-6-0's. The engines had originally been designed so that this feature could be added. Unfortunately, none of the MT's 2-6-0's survived as far as I know.Les Beckman (Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum/North Judson, Indiana)

I had heard from at least two sources that COL Hill, who had been involved in the design of both the S-160s and the 0-6-0s, had also designed a lead truck for the 0-6-0s. I'd love to see a picture of one of the Midland Terminal engines, (as well as a list of where the Army 0-6-0s all went). We often discussed how nice it would have been if NHIR 9 had been a Mogul!
