folks,It has been some time since I have heard anything about the Baldwin switicher at Steamtown National Historic Site. It was funn seeing that little switch puffing her way acrosss the yard and turntable. While it is increasingly difficult to run steam excursions on the main lines, this little locomotive showed the real thing to a lot of interested visitors. The engine is getting a Form 4 rehab I guess, although it runs on private property, but the NPS can get complicated.Anyone with news?Ted Miles |

As of a few weeks ago, the boiler was off the frame to facilitate repair and a new tube sheet had been fabricated. Base upon the gridlines on the boiler, an assumption could be made that the locomotive is undergoing a 1472 day inspection. Also shown during the shop tour was a new pair of eccentrics for PRR #1361 that can be described in one word..."WOW!" |
