Hats off to Mark Rey and the crew at TVRM! What a GREAT convention. I especially loved the pre-convention trip on the train ride from the parking lot of the Holiday Inn to Summerville, GA. The consist was two coaches, concession car, 44 seat diner and a business car. WOW, I have never seen such a clean train...inside and out! Clean windows too! The concession car was spotless and well stocked (this set up could be used as a prototype), the coaches had very clean floors (even under the seats!) and all the upholstery was sharp. The big surprise was when we entered the diner...WOW, all the guys had the RIGHT KIND OF UNIFORMS...this you rarely see. White coats, white shirts, black trousers, hard soled, lace up shoes..polished! More than just a costume....the attitude of these waiters...WOW! This certainly was what it must have been like in the heyday of dinner in the diner! The 1920's business car....dead on! Snacks were served all day in the dining room and attended by one heck of a young man. All day this fellow paid strict attention to every detail of his job in this car....I know of one major tourist railroad (that operates dinner trains) offered him a job right on the spot!I could ramble on and on as to the level of service and most of all PRIDE displayed by these people....what a class act! I have said many times..."we are in the entertainment business AND railroaders." With all the competition for attracting visitors to spend thier entertainment dollars...putting on the "show" is MOST important for the sucess of any tourist railroad operation. From what I saw last week...TVRM has certainly figured it out!Steven TorricoEdwards Rail Car Co.
