Notice at TrainOrders.com highlights that three derelict EMD E units have been pulled from their long-stored siding on the Carolina Southern near Conway, SC in preparation for scrapping, said to be planned for early December. My guess is that these are leftovers from a past incarnation of the Waccamaw Coast Line/Horry County RR, which ran (or at least tried to run) excursions in the Myrtle Beach area.Units in question, from the photos, are ex-Metra/RTA 520 (a former C&NW unit?), NJ Transit 4257 (probably ex-PRR, judging from the lifting rings on the nose), and a former Amtrak locomotive with windshields and nose numbers welded over (I thought this might have turned out to be Amtrak's experimental fuel tender #400, but the details don't match).http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=124727http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=124729

I was afraid it would come to this. The folks over there have not been approachable about offering any of the units up for preservation at this museum. The price they were asking, if you could get them to give a price, was well above the actual worth, given their poor condition and how much it would cost to make even a decent static exhibit of one. I'd have to check my notes on the asking price, but it was way too much for us to consider moving here.They did supposedly donate one of the F's to Myrtle Beach. Can anyone confirm this actually happened?

The PRR Unit would be a great pick up for the Dennison Depot Museum in Ohio ---- would go well with there display there!TJG

I would also like to know about the passenger cars. The equipment that is there is what's left from the now defunct Waccamaw Coast Line RR. When I last visited the "Redneck Riviera" (Myrtle Beach) 9 years ago, there was a lot of interesting stuff there. Some of it has found new homes, such as 2-8-0 #203, now operational in Knoxville, and the N&W combine undergoing restoration at Spencer. I think a couple of ex-IC cars also went to a dinner train somewhere up north.
