Anybody have any recent photos of GE's locomotive facilities in Erie? I'd like to compare them to the photo that's in Classic Train's Diesel Victory.Thanks,Gerald W. Kopiasz

GE's relatively secretive about their facilities, and although I've now had three tours of the place, it is all 'no cameras' as an official policy. There are a couple public roads where shots can be taken, but some of the best stuff (like the paint line and the dead trade-in line) are pretty much off-limits. That's why you don't see a whole lot of shots. The inside of the plant is very, very impressive, and very, very busy.There's a highway overpass just west of the plant that has an excellent view and right over top of the outbound siding to CSX - but I'm pretty sure it just got security fencing.One of the best little secrets is the 4-mile (?) test track that is on the north side of the NS and CSX(CR/NYC) main out toward Harborcreek, parallel all the way. It ends just before the Rt. 20 overpass. There's one public crossing on it, and when they are testing locomotives it's a sight to behold with units running up to 70mph dragging a dynamometer car and then turning and heading right back.
