That a Vulcan Iron Works "Skyliner" was to be repatriated as a symbol of the days when it was common to see "made in USA".. of course I thought it was the Aeroflot symbol put there as a prank, so what do I know?

I don't remember the URL, but the TSRR had a website a few years ago that showed 1 or 2 skyliners, stugffed and mounted. It didn't seem that there were many around. Perhaps they were confused with the USS Eldridge, of "Philadelphia Experiment" fame which was sold to Turkey, but which was quietly scrapped to prevent evidence that would prove the events decribed by the late Mr. Berlitz. On a serious note, who is Rome Loco and why would they be after skyliners?

Sorry Supe, Rome locomotive Works of Rome NY. About 20 years ago (or so) they were sending out letters offering turkish 2-10-0s with skyline casings built by Vulcan in the USA to be repatriated. I never heard if any actually did come home, your posting brought it to mind. dave
