I'm wondering if an appropriate prime mover and generator could be found to bring her back to life? Also wondering why the side panel were removed.

A used 567, air compresor, generator, and auxillary generator should be easy to get. The real difficulty would be restoring the electrical cabinet if it has been robbed or if the unit must be rewired. Finding all the componets or rebuilding to more modern standards is possible but not fun or cheap. Personally I would rather do the mechanical work. I would guess the side panels were removed because they need to be replaced. If Doyle McCormick can put the PA back together from virtually nothing but a nose and frame restoring this EMD should be a piece of cake. John Bohon
