Looks as though the descendants of JM Davis have decided to sell off his life history--piece-by-piece--as evidenced by his railroad passes. The earliest I saw (there may be earlier) was a 1900 pass listing him as Superintendant on the DL&W. In 1908 he was General Super on the Oregon Short Line and two years later was General Super on the Southern Pacific (both of these were exchange passes for himself, [family members], business car and accompanying employees). By the 20's he was back at DL&W as President and in the early 40's was the Chairman of the Board of the DL&W.oh yes, then there was that trip to Australia with the family as evidenced by the Aussie Railroad Pass!all of this just in looking at a half dozen listings of the scores listed by the seller.Interesting stuff...but then again, maybe I need to get a life...sc 'doc' lewis |
