The museum seems to be pulling itself together. But their newsletter on the web site is now from last June. Six months old!

They put their N&W steam loco up for sale. Does anyone know if it went to another museum and if so where?

I believe they re-opened last summer with an operational PCC.
Is this true? Any other operation?

At the bottom of this message is a copy of the offical ORM announcement with list. Any current news would be of interest.

Related to this, the adjacent shop of George Silcott has also been closed and removed recently. When I visited the ORM site in Dec. of 2002, I thought this was part of the museum.

It sounds like there are some major changes happening in their neighborhood.

Subject: Geo. Sillicott gone

"Stopped at Worthington, Ohio today for my annual visit to small
locomotive rebuilder George Silicott's operation, only to find it out
of business. The canablized remnants of an Alco S-2 and a GE 45-T
(both devoid of old markings)were the only remaining locos, along with
piles of miscellaneous loco parts, including many for small GEs and
old Alco switchers. The only one around was the fork lift operator,
who said the operation was "sold," but that he didn't know who or
where the buyer is. The facility was located adjacent to the Ohio
Railway Museum, basically a traction museum. It was formerly hidden
behind the Worthington Foods plant, which has been demolished to make
way for condos. That project may well have also led to the sale of the
Silicott operation. The company's namesake died some years back.

The "Times Square" and Williamsport" are both salvagable cars, especially for a small-medium sized museum in PRR territory. Heck, add in the car that Cuyhoga has from Quaker Square (forget which car she is) and you'd have a dandy display. On top of that, the N&W combine is a possible salvage --- heck, if her sister at Spencer can be saved, anything is possible!

The IT PCC was operating this past year, but I believe it is ORM's only operational revenue car. The Y&OR steeplecab may also run, though, and I believe the Columbus streetcar can be moved under power for switch moves.
