At Fort Morgan, Colorado. I think this is the one in front of the old city power plant there today, partly incomplete. They had no numbers, and can be hard to identify. All the Colorado engines were painted silver in the 1950s.http://photoswest.org/cgi-bin/imager?11005650+Z-5650At Loveland. This one was slightly larger in weight and driver size than some of the others. It was parked at the end of the sugar factory track at Fort Morgan, last I knew, near the interstate access road, adorned with Christmas lights. I'm told it was brought down to Loveland from Montana in the mid-1950s. Moved from Loveland, it was fired up as late as 1989, but not since.http://photoswest.org/cgi-bin/imager?11 ... -5651There is also a third dinky at Fort Morgan, displayed on the city complex lawn downtown. Originally from the Brighton factory, it was the same size as the Fort Morgan engine, but later acquired a much wider cab and a four-wheel tender. Last I knew, the undercarriage of the tender (said to be originally from an unsuccessful Fairbanks Morse gasoline motorcar) was under the body of a gasoline-powered trolley car in Montana.http://www.steamlocomotive.info/vlocomo ... ay=1653All were built by Davenport, and all were acquired secondhand. Some were originally narrow gauge.

Jeff Terry had an extensive story in his Railfan & Railroad Lineside Legacy column a while back. Maybe somebody can remember and post the issue.

When I photographed the Dinky at Loveland in the early 1970s it was gray, not silver.

I lived in Longmont, Colorado until 1963. In the mid-1950s the Longmont Dinky was black.

Here is a photo of an unmarked GW sadddletanker in a park(more like an empty lot) in Sterling Colorado, middle to late 90's.

Sterling Dinky
