It was reported in the Brief today that the Heber Valley will be the first tourist railroad to connect to an Olympic site. Actually this happened at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. The Adirondack Railway moved over 10,000 visitors into Lake Placid during the two week Olympic Venue.

Many of the riders took the full trip from Utica, New York up to the Olympic sites. Although the Adirondack would fail later that year. The reports I heard are that they did an outstanding job with limited resources getting people to the Olympic events.

Most of the line between Utica and Lake Placid is in operation again by the Adirondack Scenic RR.
