Seen here as the Champion Papers switcher from Deferiet, NY at Selkirk, NY in 1987. It was sent to the Selkirk diesel shop for needed repairs, but few there had seen such a beast and recommended it for scrap. It eventually found its way to the Naparano scrap yard in New Jersey, where I'm told, they got it running and used it to switch scrap cars for a while, offering it for sale. There was some very minor interest in bringing it back to Vermont, which died about as soon as it started. Was it finally scrapped, or does it linger on somewhere? http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/misc-c/cham404abp.jpg |

I looked at it when it was at Nappy's. They were able to start it for me, in pretty cold weather and with no water, but when it came time to move it, the starting contactors came in along with S1. They also wanted an astronomical amount of money for it. Thanks but no thanks- I have always assumed it got scrapped by NIM. |
