OK, I went back to an old, very early post, specifically about Santa Fe 3417 in Cleburne. I posted an update and was disappointed it didn't float to the top (flat viewers only please). Well, it did float to the top, but since the topic was so old, you have to set the "Display topics from previous:" equal to "All Topics" and hit the go button. (Thank you David Collison.) So, it does work as hoped, you can go find a topic 5 years old, add a new post to the thread, and it will float to the top of the forum (again, this only works for flat viewers for the time being, but we hope to fix so it works for thread viewers soon). Cool...... And, I wanted to clean up some of the special characters in the old Matt's and Webbbs posts, i.e. " = " (quote mark) & = & (ampersand) > = > (greater than) But some of the newer posts also have these special characters but they display properly. So, further research is needed before attempting to clean up the formatting on the old posts without hosing everything up. But, it will happen eventually. Again, I am amazed that as large and complicated as this database is that everything converted so easily and works so well. The glitches are very minor. I know how much everybody looks forward to these technical posts about the guts of the forum, so I'll be sure and give another update as soon as possible! |

Cool...... Hume, I just replied on a topic from October and it didn't float to the top until I selected "All Topics" on the "Display topics from previous:" drop-down menu. How about changing the default setting on this drop-down to "All Topics" since the expected behavior is probably to move a topic with a new posting to the top, regardless of age? Regards, Erich |

The change is in the works. Plus some other even better stuff. Hope to have it all done in the next week or so. |
