Sorry if I've mentioned this before, but there is an excellent website devoted to California's McCloud River RR here: http://www.trainweb.org/mccloudrails/index.html You can find most of what you want to know about this line here, including an all-time locomotive roster, with several photos of each engine, details of dispositions, tender swappings, etc.. A portion of the route was lifted this past October, and the rest has been for sale. No. 18, their only operable steam locomotive, was recently sold to the group rebuilding the Virginia & Truckee line out of Virginia City. The website was updated earlier this month, so the news is current. Definitely worth a look.. |
