October 2, 1956, at Wells, Michigan. I think it was stored by this time.

Nice engine. Almost a dead-ringer for Hampton & Branchville #44, preserved at the SCRM. Anyone have dimensions for it?

Interesting front pony truck; one spoked set and one solid set of wheels. Does she still have this mismatched pair on the Arcade & Attica? Also, anyone know what her status is these days?

We saw and photographed the A&A 14 a few times in the 1970s. It still had the one-solid / one-spoked lead truck wheels then. I believe that it's still that way today.

The engine has been stored (indoors) for many years. I'm not certain when it was last run, but would estimate 20 or 25 years ago. We've been told that it needs boiler and firebox work in order to return to service.

Somewhat ironic that in spite of the alleged "treasure trove" the current Escanaba & Lake Superior holds, this one escaped the collector..........

Hampton & Branchville No. 44 (now preserved at SCRM)

I found dimensions for both locomotives at steamlocomotive.info. No. 14 weighs within 500 lbs of H&B #44, has the same boiler pressure, same cylinder dimensions, but has 58" vs. no. 44's tiny 51" drivers. No doubt they were both Baldwin "catalog" locomotives built from standard parts.

Who knows, maybe one of these days we'll see them both in steam.
