SS Maritime.com is reporting that Norwegian Cruise Line's parent, Star Cruises has sold the SS Norway (nee SS France) to shipbreakers in Bangladesh. According to this piece, she will shortly be towed to Chittagong for demolition.

While not unexpected by any means, this is as devastating to ship lovers as would be the news to us that UP had decided to scrap 844 and 3985. Thank God we don't have to worry about that. The France, and the QE2 were the last two great transatlantic liners. Now only QE2 will remain.

The good news is that the SS Rotterdam is in drydock in Cadiz, and will shortly be towed home to her birthplace to become a floating hotel.
