Finland apparently got 20 of these, from Baldwin and Alco, 1946-47. This one preserved at the state railway museum and is an Alco of 1947. A pretty interesting locomotive. Anyone seen a better photo? http://www.rautatie.org/web/fi/galleryd ... §ion=1 There were apparently the last of the second batch of "Russian Decapods" built for the former Soviet Union under Lend Lease. (The first batch were built during World War I.) When the Cold War broke out; the last 20 apparently went to Finland; a logical choice since the gauge in Finland is the same at 5ft 0in; and VR can handle the Soviet loading gauge. This appears to be the only example of the 20 to have survived; according to my records, it is ALCO (Schenectady) 75214/1947. These engines were classified as Ye in the Soviet Union; and several remain there today. Some are in the former strategic reserves; others have been plinthed at train stations across the former USSR; while others were operational and used in heritage train service. It appears the Fins had placed a larger sand dome over the steam dome; but otherwise did little to alter their appearance. Down in the middle and on the right edge of the above webpage is a picture of E-350; one of the "Russian Decapods" built during World War I.
