LV survivors, your help requested.

its 2006! :)
The LV survivors list was started in 2003.

I make changes to an individual locomotive's status as I hear news about changes, but I thought the beginning of 2006 might be a good opportunity to look for some big, overall status updates..

for example, are all of the GP38-2's still operating with CP?
are all the C420's still running on the A&M?
that kind of thing..

please take a look at the LV survivors list:

if you have personal knowledge about any of these locomotives, and know for certain that specific engines are or are not still operating, or they have moved, or any such thing like that, please let me know so the list can stay up to date! :)

its still in the works!
hopefully it will make it to Sayre this year (2006)
its taking awhile because the Sayre Historical Society is still raising the funds to pay for the move..these things take some time.
but I believe it should happen soon..

All of the 38-2s are still running, except for the two wrecked. Any word on the retired 38ACs Scot?

SW-9 282 (Huntsville & Madison County RR #8933) is alive and well at Huntsville, AL. The engine has remote control equipment installed for one-man operation. Generally makes one trip a week over the old NC&StL Huntsville branch.

I heard (on another forum) that one of the 3 stored GP38AC's might be rebuilt by NS!
so there is hope for a return to life..

but those arent the LV units..
the three "missing" engines are:

LV 505 (CR 2781) (Reading & Northern 2394) (TUGX 2394)
sold by R&N in 1998 - to RMDI, sold to Texas Utilities by RMDI

LV 506 (CR 2782) (Reading & Northern 2393) (TUGX 2393)
sold by R&N in 1998 - to RMDI, sold to Texas Utilities by RMDI

LV 507 (CR 2783) (to Texas Utilities on 6/23/93)

the one in your photo, R&N 2399, was Conrail 2791,
which was purchased new by Conrail in 1977.

although....I have had some nebulous reports that RMDI has more LV U23Bs besides 501 and 511..so maybe they are there!

any chance you can get the R&N numbers on the rest of them?

I was at RMDI a couple months ago- that was the only grouping of R&N units that I saw.
