We are having 2" boiler wash out plugs and joint rings (used for check valves, blow down valves, steam turret and other applications) cast from SB62 steam bronze. If there is anyone else out there who may need parts like this cast for their own locomotives, let us know at rrproject113@hotmail.com. Adding to the order may lower the cost a little. These will be rough, unmachined castings only. Bernie Perch Roabert Kimmel, Jr. |

Very kind of you to offer to help other guys out by increasing your run. I hope more offers like this will appear here. Do you have a cost per unit from the foundry? Dave |

Dave, We are figuring about $45 for the washout plug and the same for the joint ring. Again, this is for rough unmachined castings. One never knows for sure until the bill comes from the foundry. Bob Kimmel, Jr. knows more about this than I even though I made the patterns. If you are considering getting some, email us and I will give you the phone number at the station. You can talk to him. The correct metal for the above castings will be SB61 steam bronze or M metal. |

What is the status of the CNJ 113? Did you complete the scheduled test steaming last year? Where is the locomotive stored? What are your plans for it when the restoration is completed? What other equipment do you own? Do you have any pictures? Thanks! Lehigh<>George LGSRy. Mascot |

There was never a schedule on this project especially a scheduled steam up. As most people involved with restoration projects know, all sorts of problems arise when things start getting torn apart. Number 113 is no exception. Currently, about half the flexible staybolts and caps have to be installed along with several firebox patches. Flues, tubes and superheater tubes have to be installed along with a lot of other stuff. The locomotive is stored outdoors next to the Minersville, PA. railroad station so little work can be done until spring and warm weather arrive. Along with 113 the project owns a caboose and two CNJ coaches on the site and CNJ "private" car 98 still located at the WK&SRR. Check the brifes section of this forum for some photos. There is some discussion (not necessarily accurate) and photos by others on another forum. Right now I am not aware of any plans concerning the operation of this locomotive. We have to get it running first. I will try to answer any more questions people may have. Bernie Perch |
