Post subject:  NKP 765 Website: Video is up

http://www.765.org has been updated, replete with photo coverage of the Open House last October.

The much coveted restoration photos will be up soon. There are MANY of them and I'm still working out the kinks in the photo upload process. The INDEX option in the photo gallery does not work, as it was wreaking havoc with other parts of the side (Hume can probably feel my pain when you have multiple .index.htm(l) files floating around...)

For those of you on 56k, I'd like to know how the site flows on a modem connection.

I would appreciate any comments you may have. If you happen to have photos of the event that you'd like share, please email me!

Also, by the end of the month, a video recap should be available for download for those of you who missed the Open House and want to hear the 700's whistle once again.

By the way, is the Image Upload option working currently on RYPN?

Very truly,

Kelly, I just rattled around the site on my 56K connection and it is fast and easily navigable (sp?). Wow, Rich M. is showing a lot of grey hair. Didn't see Rich Y. but then he doesn't like publicity. It's great to see that locomotive back together again and basically brand new. Nice work all of you.

Had to do some internal tweaking, but there are no more lost pages.

Actually, before I uploaded a few extra photos that also include Mr. Rich Young, his silhouette can be seen aiding in the loading of coal in 765's tender.

Naw...it's just the angle of the light. ;-)

Fitz, I have often said that I don't care what color my hair is, as long as it is all still there!

So far, so good.

Beautiful locomotive, great job, lots of hard work has really paid off. Thanks to all involved.

I just want to know how many of those gray hairs did 765 give you? ;)

As anyone who works on steam can attest, we love them dearly, but they all have personality quirks that can make life “interesting”.

Hi Tom:

I notice that you stated in your message that you are a crew member for ex-PRR B4a 0-6-0 # 643 in Williams Grove, PA. Well Tom, I have to disagree with you! IF # 643 is still lettered for the Pennsylvania, then she is not "ex-" at all! She IS Pennsylvania B4a # 643. Period! When she was owned by Central Iron & Steel Company, later Phoenix Iron & Steel Company and later still, Phoenix Steel Corp., she could well be described as "ex"-PRR. Or if you now turn around and letter her for your organization instead of the Pennsy, she could be described as "ex"-PRR. But as long as she is lettered for the Pennsy, no "ex'" is necessary.

Don't be afraid to call her what she is; a Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotive. By proud my friend!

A small, downloadable Quicktime movie is avaliable for viewing at http://www.765.org

You can navigate to the video through the gallery, or hop onboard directly at http://www.765.org/OpenHouseRecap.mov

Hope this gives everyone an idea of what the Berk looks like now, up close and personal and with sound. This is only an inkling of the what to expect in the near future.

Maybe its just me, but I wasn't able to see anything on the video. All I got was the audio part. Did anyone else have this problem?

Robert,

Do you have the newest version of Quicktime installed?

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

This download only downloads QUICKTIME, not iTunes, so Windows users can be happy that they aren't getting more than they want out of the package.

I've checked it out on a few computers/browsers and it's been working okay.

Let me know if anyone else has other problems.

Wonderful! Good to hear. I'm going to recompress the video, maybe that'll speed up and improve quality for others.

Kelly, that's a great video. Sure good to see her running again. I did see Rich Young in the video, and Rich Melvin, I have much more grey than you do. Sure hope I can see this engine in person again.
