I took this shot at Derby, Maine (Milo), Christmas Eve. The car is Pullman green and carries the lettering DL&W 99 near the open railing. It is heavily grafitied and at least one window is broken out. Apparently some vandals have spray painted at least a portion of the car's interior. Sorry, I couldn't get a better picture without trespassing. Several other passenger cars, a burned out plow, a newly painted MMA boxcar, and a heater car built from an express boxcar were also in the same line.

This car was featured in Railpace several years back. I believe it came out of NY or NJ there were a couple cars on isolated track, this one wound up stored in Newport VT for a while if I remember correctly.

This was Perry Shoemaker's car and was in Pittsburgh at the P&LE depot on display until a few years ago. It was indeed sent to Newport, VT for restoration under private ownership.

When Shoemaker left the DL&W for the CNJ, the car came with him.

This is one of the most significant anthracite railroad artifacts not in a museum in PA. Calling Scranton, Strasburg and Altoona...

Do we know who currently owns the DL&W 99? I've got people that would like to put this car under roof get her back on her feet. Any help would be appreciated. Is it or could it be for sale? Car needs to be saved!

Neglected at the moment, I agree, but in danger? I don't believe so. She does need to gt under cover and sealed. My guess is that vandals have defaced the interior fairly well.
