Long a piece of rusting playground equipment at Rawlins, Wyoming, here's UP (Oregon Short Line) 533 at Salt Lake City, in April, 1931: http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?j ... /up533.jpg And the 561, today in somewhat better condition, but unsheltered, at Columbus, Nebraska, here at Pocatello, January 30, 1934: http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?j ... /up561.jpg Their ideal home? The fully-intact UP roundhouse at Evanston, Wyoming, where they were once maintained. The city, however, has other plans for the structure - a municipal office complex.. |
