Article from the Lock Haven, Pa. Daily Express in its entirity: Bellefonte Railroad to resume operations BELLEFONTE (AP) — The Bellefonte Historical Railroad should resume operations in May after a year-long hiatus due to financial problems. The resumption is due to donations from the community and a $1,000 check from the State College Wal-Mart. The non-profit organization was looking for money to replace the glass in both operators’ cabs in the 88-passenger cars, at a cost of $2,600. The two self-propelled diesel cars from the 1950s [Budd RDCs] have been popular attractions, with rail enthusiasts lamenting that the trains had been sitting idle since December of 2004, according to Chip Aikens, executive director of Bellefonte Intervalley Chamber of Commerce. [sarcasm] Darn that evil Wal-Mart! [/sarcasm] |
