Wedding of the rails on the NP (an event said to have been spoiled by drunkenness, so the scene was later recreated on canvas instead - it was celebrated a century later in Montana, with D&R 4-4-0 8, on ex-Milwaukee dormant trackage); NYC&HR 999 in original form; and Old Ironsides, said to be the first Baldwin locomotive. The much-rebuilt 999 is in Chicago and a wooden replica of Old Ironsides (not sure if that's what is pictured here or the real thing) resides at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont. http://cgi.ebay.com/Steam-Engines-Locom ... otohosting |
